First Bydgoszcz then Rome

Two talented athletes from Bydgoszcz: Marika Popowicz and Ma³gorzata Reszka will participate in  Enea Cup 2010. Both ladies joined the press conference organized in the City Hotel, where the participation of one of the stars of the meeting – Christian Cantwell, the World Shot Put Champion, was officially confirmed.

f2 Cantwell is another World Champion, aside with Anna Rogowska or Anita W³odarczyk, we will have a chance to admire at the City Stadium in Bydgoszcz on June 6. ‘I am sure it will be the most starred meeting in history. Its additional advantage is surely the time, as the meeting is planned between the Diamond League in Oslo and Rome. Therefore, we would like to invite all fans to come and cheer on their favorites.', said Krzysztof Wolsztyñski, the General Director of Enea Cup 2010. ‘We would also like to invite organized groups to join the fans' clubs, we are going to create. Our main sponsor prepared for them lots of prizes and attractions, including gadgets and equipment which will be very useful in expressing their support to the best world athletes competing during the event. Moreover, we are going to choose three best clubs that will receive additional prizes, and if any of the groups fails to ensure transportation facilities to the meeting, we will also give a hand at that.', added Wolsztyñski. ‘Since it is the tenth meeting, I believe it is the right moment to make some summaries and remarks. We are aware that our meeting has become a recognizable event, as we have received numerous phone calls from the managers of the brightest sport stars. We cannot deny the fact that Enea Cup organized in Bydgoszcz is currently one of the most prestigious and surely the leading athletics event in Poland.', remarked vice-mayor of the city Maciej Grze¶kowiak.

For those who wish to join the fans' club we have prepared a website: www.efl.bydgoszcz.pl where they can download application form, then fill it in and send back. For the most active groups we have prepared fantastic prizes and for all the group leaders small gifts.

Among the national and international stars we will also watch our local sport celebrities, the representatives of Zawisza Bydgoszcz.  Marika Popowicz (Polish Champion in 100 and 200 m) and Ma³gorzata Reszka (European Team Multi-discipline Cup winner),  who, during the press conference, underlined that what makes them special is not just the sport skills and success achieved so far, but their intelligence, brilliance and …. the support of the local fans. After the victorious meeting in Bydgoszcz, where they won two medals during Polish Championships, the ladies received a lot of praise from the fans, who said they had come to the stadium especially to cheer on them.

‘I want to achieve a good result here, at ‘my' stadium, where the pressure is high, and besides I can achieve a good result.', said Popowicz. ‘I will do my best to show to the whole world that Polish sportswomen can run. Even though, I am so focused just before the start that I can hardly hear or see anything, once the race is finished, seeing the joy on the faces and hearing the cheering of the fans is a truly fantastic moment. Therefore, I would like to encourage everyone to come and give us their support on June 6.', added Marika.

Ma³gorzata Reszka, the multi-competition sportswoman, could not hide her happiness at  the thought of the participation in the great event, either. ‘It will be my  first year of long jump, as this season I have f1decided to focus on this discipline only, and I am very happy that I can start it here, among such respectable stars.  The athletes who are coming to Bydgoszcz are a boost for hard work and I will do my best to surprise everyone.', said the talented Miss Sport of Gazeta Pomorska of 2008.
